The Greenville Conservation Commission and Chamberlain Free Public Library are pleased to offer Planting for Pollinators presented by the UNH Extension Master Gardeners on Tuesday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m.
Insects such as bees and butterflies are helpful, and in some cases, essential, in pollinating many of our food crops such as apples, berries, and vegetables. In recent years, there has been a decline in the populations of these wild pollinators. Planting patches of flowers, wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and flowering trees can encourage and support natural pollinators as well as enhance backyard landscapes. Master Gardener Ruth Droescher will present and offer recommendations on plants beneficial to pollinators.
The program is free and open to the public. The library gratefully acknowledges the Rockingham County Master Gardener Program and UNH Extension Service for sponsoring this program.
The Chamberlain Free Public Library is located at 46 Main St., Greenville, NH. For further information, call the Library at 878-1105.

Quilts tell stories, and quilt history is full of myths and misinformation as well as heart-warming tales of service and tradition. Nearly every world culture that has cold weather uses quilted textiles—quilting is NOT just an American art.
Pam Weeks weaves world history, women’s history, industrial history and just plain wonderful stories into her presentation. Participants are invited to bring one quilt for identification and/or story sharing. Prompted in part by the material culture at hand, the presenter may speak about fashion fads, the Colonial Revival, quilt-making for Civil War soldiers, and anything else quilt-related she can squeeze in.
Pamela Weeks is the Binney Family Curator of the New England Quilt Museum. Author of the book Civil War Quilts and articles on quilt history, she lectures nationally on quilt-making and quilt history and uses quilts to tell stories of the Civil War, women’s history, and industrial history.
The next Chamberlin Free Public Library Trustees meeting will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the library.
